Free Agents

Ideally individuals are encouraged to form their own team or find a team themselves. All Free Agents should register on the website. You must first register an account on the site and then select the appropriate league/divisions in which you wish to play.

Free Agents may request to join teams looking for players or may be asked by a captain to join a team. Please note that unfortunately we cannot guarantee placement on a team.

We encourage individuals to attend the mandatory captain meeting in hopes of being picked up by a team.

Intramural Sports

The Intramural Sports program offers a unique opportunity for all members of the University of Maryland community to participate together in sports leagues and tournaments. You don't have to be an athlete to play; these recreational activities are for everyone. Participants can choose to play at either the competitive "A" or recreational "B" level for most sports.  The Intramural Sports program offers three ways to participate: team sports, individual/dual sport tournaments, and Gym Class Heroes. Please see below for descriptions of each type of event and specific offerings for this semester.

Summer 2014 Team Intramurals

Team Sports: Typically team sports are offered as a three week regular season (round-robin play) followed by a single elimination playoff tournament. Individuals may sign up with friends as a team or may join as a free agent. We cannot guarantee that free agents will be placed on a team, but the Intramural staff will attempt to assist in the process

Who is eligible?  The eligibility rules for summer time Intramurals are similar to those used during the fall and spring semesters. Participants must meet one (or more) of the following criteria:

1. Faculty or full-time staff

2. Undergraduate or Graduate student enrolled in summer session course (s) ( SSI for Softball, SSII for sand volleyball)

3. Paid summer membership through Campus Recreation Services

4. Paid full-time membership at Campus Recreation Services

Tournaments/Individual Sports

Individual/Tournament Sports: These sports are offered as a single or double elimination tournament depending upon registration numbers. Typically, the sport is offered over a period of one week or a weekend.  Details for when the sport is offered can be found on the IMLeagues registration page.

There are no Summer 2014 Individual or Tournament Sports - Please check back in August for all Fall 2014 sports

Gym Class Heroes

Gym Class Heroes: This series of activities is designed to offer a less competitive environment for participants who are interested in being active and having fun. The final Friday of each month during the semester will feature a new sport that promotes a fun social atmosphere. Tournaments are held during "happy hour", typically between 4pm and 10pm. If you have a suggestion for a sport you would like us to offer, please email us!

There are no summer Gym Class Heroes events. Please check back in August for a full list of Fall GCH events
